The eZdsp board shouldnot be plugged in at this point.1.Insert the Code Composer Studio installation CD intothe CD-ROM Drive. An install menu (see below)should appear. If it does not, manually runLaunch.exe from the CD-ROM. Select theInstallProductsoption from the menu.4.Make sure your eZdsp CD-ROM is installed in yourCD-ROM drive. Now connect the eZdsp to your PCusing the included USB cable. After few secondsWindows will launch its "Add New Hardware Wizard"and prompt for the location of the eZdsp drivers.Follow the instructions on the screens and letWindows find the USB driver files “r28xxez.inf” and“sdusb2em.sys” on the eZdsp CD-ROM. On XPsystems Windows will find the drivers automatically.5.Starting Code ComposerTo start Code Composer Studio, double click the F28335eZdsp CCStudio icon on your desktop.Once CCS has started selectDebug->Connectfrom themenu bar. TargetConnect/Disconnectis a new featurein CCS 3.3.2.Install any components you need. To debug with theeZdsp you must have 1) a copy ofCode ComposerStudio,2) thetarget contentpackage for yourboard.Users of the full Code Composer Studio package canskip the Code Composer installation and simply installthe target content packages.Note: paid annual software subscription service is notavailable for eZdsp products.F28335 eZdsp Hardware RegistrationThe eZdsp F28335 hardware can be registered using theon-line registration process at www.spectrumdigital.com.Spectrum Digital, Inc. warrants the products it producesfor one (1) year after the date of purchase. For a productto be considered "in warranty", Spectrum Digital must benotified of the defect within one (1) year after beingpurchased from Spectrum Digital or one of its authorizedresellers. Spectrum Digital is not responsible for accidents,improper installation of connections, misuse, neglect orunauthorized modifications. If you intend to access these files you musthave Adobe Acrobat installed on your system.If you want to verify a successful USB driver install,open your device manager by right clicking on the MyComputer icon on your desktop and selectingProperties --> HW --> Device Manager. You shouldsee a new class “SD USB Based Debug Tools” andone Spectrum Digital TMS320F28xx eZdsp installed.The DS201 LED comes on when power is applied tothe eZdsp. Do not launch Code Composer until theLED is off.Error MessagesMany of the error messages below refer to USBenumeration issues. The following window will appearwhen launching CCS or the Diagnostic Utility indicatingthe enumeration status.2.3.4.1. Message:Failed: Requires Win2K or Win XP.Problem: Your operating system does not supportUSB.2. Message:Failed: USB device is NOT enumerated or plugged in.Problem: Windows cannot find the eZdsp. Checkpower and USB Cable.3. Message:Failed: Load USB Application.Problem: Loader could not download the eZdspemulation application. The on-board emulationcontroller could be in a bad state. Cycle power on theeZdsp.4. Message:Failed: USB Channel in use by another app.Problem: Another application is using the eZdsp USBcommunication channel. Only one application isallowed to communicate to the eZdsp over the USBchannel at the same time.
